This forces her to rely on HE but fortunately, it's IJN HE and she is exceptional in her flame thrower role at burning ships down to the waterline. Ishizuchi at T4 is fast, reasonably protected but fires an AP shell which shatters if you look at it sideways. She's powerful and tanky with 15 inch guns that overmatch anything else in her tier. Warspite at T6 makes a solid mid-tier BB as well. Other really good ships at that tier are. However, GC is much more versatile so, in every other kind of situation, GC really has her beat. Still, in that kind of fight and with good positioning, OR is probably the better ship. OR is more of a bow tanking specialist hampered by the awkward placement of her main battery. She just seems to do just about everything well and does a few things exceptionally well. There is just something about her combination of good fast reloading guns, speed and maneuverability with adequate, if not spectacular protection, that just works. The GC, on the other hand, is something special. All in all though, she's a good solid ship once you figure her out. In other words, the OR is great at absorbing damage in that role, she just isn't that great at dishing it out. While OR is massively (and I mean massive with a capital M) protected along the bow, the arrangement of her guns limits how much firepower you can bring to bear when bow tanking. On the other hand showing your flat broadside to anything with real guns is just asking to get deleted. The OR is really hard to deal with when she is bow on or well angled to the bow (good, but less so from the stern). Well, like most things, the answer is, it depends.
